Colombia Medical Costs — an independent patient guide

Dental treatment in Colombia: the numbers and the timelines

Dentistry is the entry point to medical tourism for most patients, because the arithmetic is obvious and the risk is low. It is also the category where the length of the trip is most often underestimated.

Published starting prices are from $300 USD per tooth for porcelain or zirconia veneers, from about $700 per dental implant against roughly $3,500 in the United States, and from $5,500 per arch for All-on-4 against about $25,000. On a full-mouth case the difference covers the flights several times over — which is exactly why the decision deserves more scrutiny, not less.

The timeline is the constraint, not the price

Veneers are usually two visits across roughly a week. Implants are not: the fixture needs months of osseointegration before the crown goes on, so a single implant is normally two trips unless an immediate-load protocol genuinely applies to your case. All-on-4 exists precisely to compress that into a fixed provisional arch placed in days, with the definitive one later. Any clinic promising a permanent full-mouth result in one week is describing something else.

What to verify before you sit in the chair

Ask which implant system is being used — a mainstream brand with global parts availability matters if a component ever needs replacing near home — and get the specification in writing. Ask for the CBCT scan and the treatment plan before you fly, not after you arrive. And confirm who handles an adjustment once you are back: that answer is the difference between a coordinated case and a cheap one. The coordinator publishes its process; read it against whatever else you are considering.

General dentistry and gum health

Untreated gum disease is the most common reason a full-arch plan gets delayed on arrival. If it has been years since your last cleaning, have it assessed at home first — it is cheaper to find out there than to lose a travel day to it.
